Jojo was born and raised in Maidstone, Kent. Prior to attending university, Jojo worked a variety of jobs, including typing statements in braille for the visually impaired at NatWest, writing brochures for Club 18-30, and briefly working as a minicab controller.

As an undergraduate at Royal Holloway, University of London, Moyes took up a job at the Egham and Staines News. In 1992, Moyes was enabled to pursue a postgraduate newspaper journalism course at City University with the help of a bursary funded by The Independent. For the next ten years, Jojo worked diligently in several roles at The Independent.

Career

Jojo Moyes has been honored with two Romantic Novel of the Year Awards from the Romantic Novelists’ Association. In 2004, she was awarded the accolade for her novel Foreign Fruit. Seven years later, Moyes earned the same award for her work The Last Letter from Your Lover.
