The Gospel of John
John’s Gospel is an extraordinary account of Jesus’ earthly ministry, as witnessed by John himself. His Gospel is full of grace and truth, and is a remarkable first-hand account of the life and works of Jesus. In it, John speaks of the glory of the only Son from the Father, which may include His transfiguration, as witnessed by Peter and James, as well as the many miracles Jesus performed, such as the healing of the sick and infirmed. John also notes that there were so many other things Jesus did that if they were written down, “the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written” (John 21:25). This is an extraordinary testament to the life and works of Jesus Christ.

First John
John wrote his letter to the church in general, intending to provide an eye-witness account of what he had seen, heard, and touched. His purpose was to share his experiences so that others may have fellowship with him. Furthermore, he desired to make his joy complete by writing this book. In 1 John 3, we can find the litmus test for a true Christian.

#apologetics #bible #gospelsnnJust about every shred of evidence we have from manuscripts and early church fathers identifies John the son of Zebedee as the author of John’s Gospel. But if you read the book by itself, John isn’t explicitly identified by name. He refers to himself as ‘the beloved disciple.’ Because of that, skeptics like Bart Ehrman tell us that we’re clueless about who wrote it. nnEhrman says: “The Gospel of John … is completely anonymous. The author does not tell us his name or identify himself in any way.”nnBut before Bart was a twinkle in his daddy’s eye, 19th-century BF Westcott did some Batman-like detective work. Using only internal evidence, Westcott narrowed things down to John, the son of Zebedee, as the prime suspect for who wrote the Gospel. nnIn this video, I summarize Westcott’s arguments and conclude that John is the most logical suspect for the authorship of John’s Gospel.nnJoin this channel to get access to perks:nhttps://www.youtube.com/channel/UCadiEsTZ0hNxs5OxwGiyELQ/joinnnThe Gospel According to John, BF Westcott https://www.google.com/books/edition/The_Gospel_According_to_St_John/bcYUAAAAQAAJ?hl=enu0026gbpv=1u0026dq=inauthor:%22Brooke+Foss+Westcott%22+johnu0026printsec=frontcovernnOther helpful works: nnThe Historical Reliability of the New Testament, Craig Blomberg, https://amzn.to/2Nou9vbnnAn Introduction to the New Testament, DA Carson and Douglas Moo, https://amzn.to/39dGiMhnnBlog post: https://isjesusalive.com/why-everyone-should-believe-that-the-apostle-john-wrote-the-fourth-gospel/nnHelp support me monthly: https://www.patreon.com/isjesusalivennOutro music: nEquinox by Purrple Cat | https://purrplecat.comnMusic promoted by https://www.free-stock-music.comnCreative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 Unportednhttps://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/deed.en_USnnPool of Bethesda photo credit: Drive Thru History.

Second John
John, the elder, wrote this letter of love and encouragement to the chosen of God and her children, whom he loves in truth—not just him, but all who know the truth. This letter of encouragement could be for the bride of Christ, the Church, or for a specific lady in the church. It is ultimately written for all believers, and that is the most important thing.
Third John
John penned a heartfelt letter to his dear friend Gaius, wishing him good health and expressing his joy for Gaius’ faithfulness to the truth. He writes, “I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well. It gave me great joy when some believers came and testified about your faithfulness to the truth, telling how you continue to walk in it” (3rd John 1:2-3). By doing so, John showed his admiration and appreciation for his friend Gaius and his commitment to the truth.
The Book of Revelation
The Book of Revelation is the last writing of the Apostle John, but it wasn’t his own work. In Revelation 1:1, we read who the true author was: “The revelation from Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show his servants what must soon take place. He made it known by sending his angel to his servant John.” John was merely a witness of what he saw, “the word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ” (Rev 1:2). It was the Lord’s Day when John was taken up into a vision by the Lord and heard a loud voice like a trumpet saying, “Write on a scroll what you see and send it to the seven churches” (Rev 1:10-11). Jesus told John to “Write, therefore, what you have seen, what is now and what will take place later” (Rev 1:19). Thus, the Book of Revelation wasn’t John’s own revelation but the Revelation of Jesus Christ (1:1), which John was instructed to record. It was as if Jesus was dictating and John was merely documenting what was said and seen.

Conclusion
My favorite Gospel is undoubtedly John. It is full of stories about Jesus’ divinity, His love, His life, His suffering, His prayer (John 17), and even His death and resurrection. It is the Gospel which offers the most profound insight into Jesus’ divine nature, far surpassing the other Gospels and Epistles of the New Testament. It provides believers with a sense of comfort and assurance (John 6:37, 39, 10:28-29) and brings joy to their lives (John 16). I pray that it will bring the same to you.
